Nepali food Sel roti

Nepali food Sel roti is a traditional bread of Nepal and is sweet, it is similar to the shape of a donut but is slightly thinner and more prominent. This dish is generally prepared during a big festival of Nepal known as Dashain and Tihar in the Hindu tradition. In this festival, most probably in every house this Nepali food Sel roti is cooked and enjoyed with family and relatives.


 This Nepali food Sel roti is made from rice flour, water, sugar, milk, ghee, cloves, cardamom, and banana. These ingredients are mixed by stirring and then formed a semi-liquid dough, and this moist dough is poured in a funnel then profoundly fried in oil or ghee until the color of the Sel roti turns from white to light brown on each side. Usually, this Nepali food Sel roti is cooked using two sticks each of length of about a foot long and is known as ‘jhir’ locally, and this stick is used to turn the Sel roti while it is being cooked in oil or ghee. Sel roti is also used as Prasad in puja and other festivals and is distributed among family and relatives. It is also eaten along with morning tea and is also popular as a morning breakfast because of its taste. Thus, this  Nepali food set roti represents the food culture of Nepal.
